Research
By identifying and disseminating impactful strategies through PBFI’s research, we aim to empower the plant-based foods industry to be more effective leaders in driving food system transformation.
Sustainability
Reducing emissions from our food system is essential to meeting the goals outlined in the Paris Agreement and Glasgow Pact to reduce the rate of global warming. Shifting to a plant-based food system is one of the most effective ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, positively impact human health, increase biodiversity, and limit natural resource consumption.
We are dedicated to working with key businesses and stakeholders to inform and set Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) targets that include offsetting procurement of animal-based foods with plant-based foods as a key strategy for growth.
Access
Our work aims to support the development of food environments that empower individuals and institutions to make healthy, plant-based foods widely accessible.
Through our work, we aim to facilitate an increase in the availability of plant-based foods in institutional and commercial foodservice settings such as schools, hospitals, and other institutions, while creating a pipeline of plant-based foods in distribution.

Policy
Meaningful policy shift is needed to facilitate our goals around sustainability, access, and a thriving plant-based marketplace.
Working with stakeholders from the food industry, agricultural supply network, and policymakers, we will advocate for systems change that supports a transition towards a resilient plant-based food system.
Working alongside and in complement with the Plant Based Foods Association (PBFA), our sister trade association—PBFI advances policies that bring us closer to a healthier, more sustainable, more equitable food future for all.
